About JustWipeMetadata
Our Mission
Every photo you take with a smartphone or digital camera contains hidden metadata. This includes your GPS location, the exact time the photo was taken, your camera model, and sometimes even your name. When you share photos online, this information goes with them.
JustWipeMetadata exists to give you control over your privacy. We believe you should be able to share photos without inadvertently sharing your home address, workplace, or daily routine.
How It Works
Our tool uses your browser's native Canvas API to re-encode images. When an image is drawn to a canvas and exported, only the visual pixels are preserved - all metadata is stripped away. This is a well-established technique that's both fast and reliable.
We read and display the metadata before removal, so you can see exactly what information was embedded in your photo.
Privacy First
Unlike other metadata removal tools, JustWipeMetadata processes everything in your browser. Your images are never uploaded to any server. We cannot see your photos, we cannot access your metadata, and we do not track what you process.
This isn't just a privacy feature - it's a fundamental design decision. By processing locally, we ensure your data stays yours.
Open and Transparent
You can verify our claims by checking the network tab in your browser's developer tools - you'll see that no image data is ever sent to any server. The processing happens entirely in your browser.
